Into the Summer
As my business enters it's fifth month of full time operation I've been reflecting a little on the journey so far. Yes, it's been hard work - but also incredibly rewarding! Meeting and being able to help so many people has been the highlight - it genuinely fills my heart with joy when I fix a problem for a customer and see how happy they are as a result, or when I'm able to make some small changes to the customer's computer or phone settings which suddenly makes things so much easier to use for them. I know it's cliché to say but a lot of the time it doesn't feel like work at all - I get to meet some genuinely lovely people that I can sit down with, have a cuppa and a laugh, and help them with their tech issues. Oh, and meeting their pets too is always an extra treat!
The hard work is in navigating the trials and tribulations of starting a business from scratch - lots of learning the correct ways to do things - taxes, business accounts, insurance etc - but It's all part of the journey. The other main thing is just getting myself known - I've tried a few different ways so far - flyers, social media and a very small ad campaign in a local village newsletter. As the business continues to grow I'll be able to put more ads in different local publications and then hopefully get more word of mouth referrals.
I'm also looking to the future - I've realised that a little more structure in the services that I provide can be a great tool. I've introduced a couple of services specifically to help with improving PC and iPhone performance, and have written extensive documents to help me, but also for the customer to see what I'm doing, and they can choose what they'd like me to focus on. I want to continue creating bespoke services like this, and as my knowledge base grows I'll be able to offer more and more.
So in summary - 2026 so far has been a great start for Home Planet Tech. I'm excited to continue on with the business and honestly so very happy to be helping all of you! Let's see what the rest of 2026 brings!
